Yesterday was a day of firsts. I tried shrimp! Thats right, I had a big giant pink shrimp- for the first time! I know, I know, I live in Hawaii and I don't eat seafood. I think this stems from a perpetual fear of ocean dwellers. The thought of something just wiggling around miles under me, doing who knows what and swimming in angler-infested waters (A reoccurring nightmare I have. I'm swimming in a pool and I stick my head underwater only to find hundreds of Angler's swimming around me knees. Pure terror.) scares the heck out of me. Why would I put a morsel like that in my mouth? I wouldn't. And I never have. UNTIL yesterday. Being a poor and therefore starving college student, I had eaten nothing all day. I was holding out for a post-fireside dessert or something, but I got lucky and went to a potluck last minute. There was shrimp and rice and a whole lot of Japanese students. I digress. Anyways, I was huuuungry. So I closed my eyes and popped a shrimp. You know something? It wasn't so bad. I wouldn't eat another one though. My imagination always gets the best of me. For those of you who actually do enjoy eating sea insects, you might want to try some of these out. PS. Can I just share this picture with you? It brings me joy.
